We’ve got a pretty fun marriage going, but last year it got even more fun when I convinced Katie to jump in on a fantasy basketball league. She always teased that she felt excluded when I’d sneak away for fantasy drafts with the homeboys. If you don’t play fantasy sports, it’s hard to understand the significance of drafts, but those who do play know it’s one of the most important days of the year.
It was apparent that Katie took to it like a fish to water. Week after week she talked about the players, scores, match-ups, and making wire moves (adding/dropping new players to your team). It was a great season and it certainly added a lot of fun and conversation in our relationship.
The thing about Katie is that she’s the most competitive person I know. She salivates at the thought of winning. Uno, dominos, checkers, video games…whatever it is, she wants to win. People who know us know that we compete at everything. It adds a fun dynamic and actually strengthens our relationship. Because of that, Katie has now been indoctrinated into the wonderful world of fantasy football. If you don’t believe me about her competitive nature, watch how stressed she got leading up to the draft.
Looking forward to a fun season!
